I’m a singer/songwriter/guitarist and definitely a late starter as I didn’t start learning to play the guitar until 1996 and then purely by accident ended up singing in a band.
After a few months getting the basic chords on guitar I was invited to join some mates just to jam and we just played instrumentals until some bright spark said they wanted to expand our repertoire and play some vocal songs. As no one volunteered to sing and I was the youngest they asked me and it worked out well and we took a chance on a live show and we then gigged as “Revival” for about 8 years.
Whilst the band played covers I had been building up a few original songs and played my first solo originals gig Sept 1999 and have been writing and performing ever since.
I have had some success with my songs being used on TV, played on the radio and have also been invited to play live on numerous radio stations.
Highlights of my career include getting to play my own songs in performances at the Grand Opera House and the Barbican in York.
I have been in several bands over the years and although Accidentally Acoustic came about by complete accident it has without doubt been the best experience – you really can’t beat gigging with your mates.

I started my musical journey in a school covers band called Gangreen Arm, in which I played the drums.
At the age of 17, I left home and moved to York for work. Here I met some fellow musicians who wanted to form an originals band. We formed Rose Underpass and had some relatively good success locally and in Harrogate. I played bass in this band and became the lead singer after the original singer left. We released a couple of EP’s in cassette form, as that was the style back in the day. The band separated in about 1992.
After about a 20-year hiatus of not being in a band, I got the bug back after playing at my nephews 21st birthday party. I then became the co-founder of a band called TEN-79, in which we went on to release two original albums.
Martin and Mal contacted me after we performed at the York Against Cancer Concert at the York Barbican, a very proud moment, and asked if I’d like to form a covers band. I jumped at the chance as it was something completely different. We all got together, I met Dave for the first time and within minutes we all knew it could be something special and different. AND SO FAR IT CERTAINLY HAS and I’ve loved every moment!

I’m a classically trained pianist and I also learnt the violin in my younger years. I was in various musical groups at school but never a rock band. I can play the guitar a bit, and the drums a bit more, and wrote some dance and trance type computer music while at York Uni studying Music Technology.
I never had any desire or intention to join a band, but Martin asked if I could play the cajon and would like to join a band. After checking what one was I thought I’d have a go. When the guys realised I could play keyboard, it gave more substance to our sounds, so I play keyboard more than cajon now, and share the cajon playing with Martin and Gary!

I was a latecomer to the live music scene in York after spending years on stage in musical theatre. I always had preferences to more pop/rock in stage show genre – favouring more modern musicals like We Will Rock You/Rock of Ages.
I then had the chance to join rock covers band “CopOwt” in 2016 so I jacked in theatre! I’m still with CopOwt now and loving every minute but I then had an opportunity to create something else with these guys and I jumped at the chance. We put the band together – all friends with a love for music and the rest is history! I’ve now even learned the Cajon and love contributing musically now to the band too! The diverse range of songs is a huge appeal to me and hopefully our audiences too! We have a strong friendship and I hope this comes across when we are performing!Favourite Accidentally Acoustic song: Rockin’ All Over The World / Shine
